The Irish beef sector is highly export oriented and is expected to face an increase in demand during next year’s 2024 Olympics and Paralympics set in Paris, France. Data from Central Statistics Office in 2023 shows that Ireland exports 8.4 tonnes of bovine meat for every tonne imported.

The value of Irish meat exports reached €3.05 billion in 2022, a significant increase of 25% from 2021. The EU marketplace receives a large majority of these exports, with France named as a Top 2 export destination, receiving €393 million worth of Irish beef in 2022 (Economics and Planning Division.
