Northern Ireland Transplant Games Team

HANNON Transport Proudly Steps Up as Main Corporate Sponsor of Northern Ireland Transplant Games Team

We are delighted to share the exciting news that HANNON Transport has been announced as the main corporate sponsor for the Northern Ireland Transplant Games Team. The announcement was made at a special reception hosted by Communities Minister Gordon Lyons at Parliament Buildings on the 1st July 2025.

The Transplant Games celebrate remarkable individuals who have received organ transplants and are now enjoying renewed health and vitality. Participants compete across various sports — from athletics and swimming to cycling and team events — showcasing the power of resilience, hope, and life after transplantation.

As the main sponsor, HANNON Transport will provide essential financial support, enabling the team to access top-class training, equipment, travel, accommodation, and sportswear. This backing ensures that athletes can focus fully on their performance, representing Northern Ireland with pride on the national stage.

Northern Ireland to Compete on the World Stage

Northern Ireland will join 60 nations at the 25th World Transplant Games, taking place in Dresden, Germany, from 17–24 August 2025. This year’s Games are particularly significant, as Northern Ireland will, for the first time, compete as a standalone member country of the World Transplant Games Federation — a proud moment for both athletes and supporters.

Speaking at the reception, Minister Gordon Lyons said:

“It is great to welcome the Northern Ireland Transplant Games Team to Parliament Buildings ahead of what is a big summer for the team. This summer’s Games will be the first time transplant athletes from here can compete to represent Northern Ireland in its own right.

“This is another example of the benefits of being active and participating in sport, especially in the rehabilitation and quality of life of those who have received a transplant.

“It further highlights that sport and physical activity is for everyone, and being a recipient of a transplant does not mean that you can no longer enjoy sport. I hope that the Northern Ireland team’s participation at the World Transplant Games helps promote that message.”

Our Commitment to Community and Inclusion

For HANNON Transport, this sponsorship is more than financial support — it’s an extension of our commitment to health, community, and opportunity.

We look forward to cheering on the Northern Ireland team as they prepare for this historic summer and represent the very best of our region on a global platform.
