Demand for avocados

European demand for avocados continues to grow

The European demand for avocados continues to grow and according to the Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030, avocado will be the second best-selling tropical fruit in the world by 2030 after bananas.

We have seen a significant increase over the past couple of years in the amount of avocados being exported to Ireland.

Experts predict that the European market is expected to remain as one of the largest avocado importers with the Netherlands being responsible for more than half of Europe’s avocado imports. According to OECD/FAO Europe will be responsible for 31% of global imports in 2030.

Avocados have already overtaken grapes and became the second most imported fruit from developing countries in terms of value.

The Netherlands plays a key role in re-exporting avocados to other destinations in Europe.

Our Dutch transport hub in Poledijk is the ideal location for UK & Ireland wholesalers to import avocados from to meet with the demand at home.

We have been transporting fresh fruit and vegetables to Ireland for over 15 years and each year the volume of fresh fruit and vegetable consignments we have carried to Ireland has increased.

Fast & reliable logistics links with Ireland

The quality and reliability of Dutch fresh fruit and vegetable exports together with its proximity in terms of logistics make it the ideal location for UK and Ireland wholesalers and supermarkets as a source of fresh fruit and vegetables to meet peaks in demand and off-seasons at home.

Irish fresh fruit and vegetable importers are comfortable post-Brexit using a responsive mix of direct ferry and UK landbridge routes with an expectation that transport providers provide integrated customs clearance solutions to dynamically ensure exports move cross-border without delays.
